If your children meet the eligibility requirements, you can add them in almost any type of visa application for New Zealand. If they are single, financially dependent, and of a suitable age, children can be included in their parents’ visa application. If their parent possesses or is applying for a visa, or if their parent is a New Zealand citizen, they may be allowed to apply for a visa based on their relationship with them.
Depending on whether their parents are applying for a temporary visa, such as a Visitor or Student Visa, or a Resident Visa, dependent children must meet different requirements. Dependent children, on the other hand, are not eligible for work visas.
Parents on visitor visas with children aged 20 and above may be unable to include their children in their visitor visa applications or apply for a visitor or student visa based on their parents’ relationship. If children do not fit the requirements for a Dependent Child Visa NZ, they can still come to New Zealand and join their parents if they apply on their own.
If you have a Temporary Visa, your dependent children can apply for student or visitor visas to join you in New Zealand. For school-aged dependent children to attend primary, intermediate, or secondary schools, student visas are required.
A student visa is not necessary and will not be issued to attend pre-school in New Zealand. Dependent children of a few types of work and student visa holders can apply for a fee-free domestic student visa to attend school.
